New visuals from the collective known as Lessondary, consisting of — at various times — a combination of Von Pea and Donwill (aka Tanya Morgan), Ilyas Nashid, Rob Cave (fka Spec Boogie), Che Grand, Jermiside, Elucid, Aeon and Brickbeats.
“PTSD” touches on the idea that “being black in America is traumatic to say the least and with therapy flat out inaccessible to most of us self-medication is more than a coping mechanism, it’s damn near an institution. Why else would every hood have a liquor store and church on every corner? The same reason that jail has replaced college in those same communities, because trauma is in our DNA.”
Simple and direct, the song and Jermiside-directed video provides the personal perspective of three members of the collective, Elucid, Che Grand and Donwill.
Lessondary’s Ahead of Schedule is likely to encompass much more along these lines as the sum of these intelligently creative artists will assuredly be even greater than the already-pretty-great parts.
