Despite all the constant back and forth debate between Boom Bap purists and Turnt Up non-traditionalists, we believe that when the music is loud, the drinks are flowing and the people are beautiful, partygoers from all walks of musical life can co-exist in one space.
This concept has been proven on multiple occasions by the successful series of VS Parties, a multiple-DJ extravaganza which present dueling themes throughout the night — Bad Boy vs. So So Def, Boom Bap vs. Trap, 90s vs. Naughts, etc.
The concept was so popular, the #VSYacht Party was born. Now with its third annual incarnation, this massive party, which takes place aboard NYC’s 4-level Luxury Infinity Yacht, launches from Pier 40 on Saturday, September 10, boasting an A-list lineup of DJs and hosts, and an equally potent audience to be full of creative professionals, cultural influencer and a bevy of beautiful bodies celebrating the end of summer in style.
2015 #VSYacht Party recap
This year’s #VSYacht Party, subtitled NYC VS. EVERYBODY — right up our alley! — will match up several themes, as is their tradition, including NYC vs. Atlanta, Roc A Fella vs. Dipset and Bad Boy vs. Dancehall Reggae. There will be a set of Hennypalooza vs. The World, as the #VSYacht party will also be doubling as the Hennypalooza after-party (as well as a ComplexCon pre-party.)
Featured DJs include ITSTHREAL, Shabazz, Shon Not Sean, Brandon “Jinx” Jenkins, Emily Oberg and David Amaya with legendary Stretch Armstrong and GETLIVE! going at it for the grand finale.
Hosts include hip-hop podcast king Combat Jack, DJ Miss Milan, Judnikki, Desus Nice, The Kid Mero, 40 oz. Van & Hot 97’s Scottie Beam.
More announcements are expected.
The 2016 #VSYacht Party takes place Saturday, September 10. Tickets (including limited Early Bird specials) are on sale at www.bit.ly/vsyacht3 and www.vsparties.com.
