Bunch of interesting releases coming through lately… Grabbed up a few that were loosely connected for a new edition of Connecting The New York Hip-Hop Dots!

Megaciph navigates the fine line between patriotism and recognizing America’s hypocrisy that many who serve the nation in the military must go through — not to mention the everyday civilian, who feel disconnected from the promise of democracy that doesn’t always feel fully fulfilled. In the video for “#AllDreamsAnyway,” Megaciph visually invokes that dichotomy in a song that “[calls] America out on her b*ll$h!t with an exaggerated ‘guns, drugs, and sex’ hook and an over the top story line.”

From military veteran to music business veteran, A$AP Ferg teams up with Missy Elliott for the bouncy “Strive,” an upbeat and inspirational dance tune. After laying in the cut for a while, in part due to her health concerns, it’s always a treat to hear from the creative whirlwind that is Missy Elliott. The throwbackish “Strive” is co-produced by DJ Mustard and Stelios Phili. Ferg’s full-length Always Strive And Prosper is due out April 22.

So, here I am, giving you my $0.02 about certain releases, what I think you might like, what I think is important to share with the good people who find time to wander into the Birthplace Magazine e-pages. But some of you might not agree with what I’ve chosen. Some of you might think I don’t cover enough of this, or enough of that, or too much of this. Some might even question my credentials as the #1 supporter of all of New York’s hip-hop music and culture for years and to them I say they must not know who I am so they should fall back and plus they sound like THIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSS
