Bodega Bamz Sidewalk Exec Album Release at SOBs – Hosted by Peter Rosenberg, Cipha Sounds

Bodega Bamz - Sidewalk Exec Album Release SOBs

Bodega Bamz unleashes his Sidewalk Exec album with an album release concert at SOBs

Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg reunites with former on-air co-host Cipha Sounds to host the album release party by Spanish Harlem rapper Bodega Bamz. The Tanboys frontman is dropping a new album called Sidewalk Exec, and as a fan of his work, I for one could not be happier.

A few years back, I interviewed Bodega for a now-defunct Spanish-culture website. What was most impressive about him, at least to me, was not only his vast intelligence on a wide variety of topics, but his dedication to hip hop culture. He identified his brand of hip hop as a Latino, as a New Yorker, and as a prophet of hip hop. The result has seen Bamz pushing a grind nearly unparalleled by any of his contemporaries in the crowded New York rap field today.

In addition to being a buzzed-about solo artist, Bodega Bamz is also the prominent face of the Tanboys, a collective of Hispanic MCs that aim to unite the entire Latin community of hip hop. He’s also collaborated with other New York hip hop artists, including ASAP Rocky & ASAP Ferg, and most recently, with Flatbush Zombies.

Much of Bodega’s status comes from the organic following he’s built on the back of his 2013 mixtape, Strictly For My P.A.P.I.Z., as well as gaining new supporters during nationwide tours with Action Bronson, Danny Brown, and fellow New York upstart, Joey Bada$$.

With the release of Sidewalk Exec, Bodega Bamz is switching it up a little bit. Instead of working with The Martinez Brothers, this time around, Bodega Bamz is working exclusively with V. Don, who has produced for the likes of 2Chainz, A$AP Rocky, Lloyd Banks, Jadakiss, Pusha T, & Smoke DZA.

Appropriate, too, that he chose to celebrate the album release in pure New York style, at one of the few remaining bastions of NYC original music (let alone hip-hop), Sounds of Brazil, better known as S.O.B.s. Expect this event to be sold out, because Bodega — and the Tanboys — have one of the largest, and most loyal, followings in New York City.
