With all the talk of stylistic (d)evolution in hip hop — trap music, cloud rap, weirdos and culture vultures — ery now and again most hip hop heads could use an injection of gritty, screwed-face grimey goodness from the streets of New York.
Brooklyn’s RRose RRome has been on a tear in recent months, dropping songs, remixes and videos left and right since his Take This Serious mixtape dropped last year, with features including Sheek Louch and Uncle Murda, and production by top notch beatsmiths like Araab Musik and M Phazes.
RRose RRome continues with “Money Holla,” enlisting LOX affiliate Styles P, over a pulsating track produced by D-Block affiliate Poobs. Alongside Tha Ghost’s impeccable flow, RRose RRome holds his own, as the two combine for quick damage on the short, one-two punch of a song.
It’s the kind of track that we kinda wished had a couple more verses on it, which ensures that RRose RRome has inched up our radar of go-to spitters when we need to put on that punch-you-in-the-face, that-Brooklyn-bullshit-we-on-it music!
