Harlem rapper and whatever-the-masculine-word-for-fashionista-is A$AP Rocky drops a stylistically varied video for “Multiply,” rattling a staccato, aggressive flow over beats that vary from snappy and harsh to smoked out and smooth.
A forceful sounding A$AP Rocky pulls few punches on “Multiply,” spitting lyrics full of braggadocio, perhaps driven by an unspoken desire to silence those who may have thought his rapid rap ascension had fizzled out.
Merging the flow and un-Harlem-like drawl that made ASAP Rocky originally stand out from other New York brethren in the rap game, A$AP Rocky also takes stabs at clothing brands he was previously affiliated with, like Been Trill and Hood By Air (HBA).
In all, it’s not a giant departure from the traditional A$AP sound, or range of content, but it just might be enough to reignite interest in the A$AP Mob frontman, perhaps helping build anticipation for his as-yet-untitled upcoming album release.
