Brooklyn’s Talib Kweli, who is on the ground in Ferguson, Missouri taking part in the protests regarding the police killing of 18 year old Michael Brown, appeared with CNN’s Don Lemon for an interview segment that briefly turned contentious. The veteran rap artist spoke about the media’s coverage, implying that the media, and CNN in particular, slant their reporting in an imbalanced way.
Talib Kweli provided an example, and was interrupted by correspondent Don Lemon, who was attempting to address parts of Kweli’s statement. The two engaged in a passionate debate on how the interview should have been conducted, with Kweli even addressing how Lemon greeted him upon his arrival to be interviewed.
After a bit of back-and-forth wrangling, the two were able to finish the interview, with Lemon stating, and Kweli agreeing, that “these conversations” need to be had.
