I hope most of you are regulars. But then again, I don’t.
For regulars, you should already know about Mr. YC The Cynic, the Bronx wordsmith who has been a perennial favorite of mine/ours ever since I/we started this whole NY hip hop magazine/radio show thing.
So for you, you’ve probably already noticed YC The Cynic’s new video, for the Yuri Beats-produced “Night Thoughts.”
For newbies, welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
But you might be saying, “Perfect? How is this ‘perfect’?”
I’ll tell you.
For YC The Cynic, who continues to grow in leaps and bounds both in talent, execution, and fanbase, it’s a perfect video. Great beat, widely accessible, many people will like it. Ethereal vocals, drifting in and out of your eardrums with an Enya-like charm. The Breeze Embalm-directed video is wonderfully odd, but not too odd, thoughtful and for fans of Donnie Darko (of which I am decidedly not, but that doesn’t matter), it’s evocative of a pleasantly macabre memory.
Most importantly, it takes a minute to get to YC The Cynic. He then jabs you in the face with his typical wicked wordplay wizardry, dips back then pummels you with another flurry.
Then he’s gone.
Audio blue balls.
You want more don’t you? You want to hit replay, don’t you? You want to find/listen/buy more of his stuff, don’t you?
Exactly.
