What sets apart The Blueprint from other talent exhibitions or competitions, is that the level of talent is already high — this is no entry level competition — and that the artists involved will be featured in an ongoing media campaign and receive guidance and critique from respected members of the New York hip hop community.

As such, The Blueprint is not only a forum for up-and-coming artists, but a showcase that area hip hop fans will be able to attend and enjoy, a rarity in emerging hip hop talent showcases.

The inaugural event, to be hosted by well-known NYC independent hip hop advocates Jah C and Suzanne Biello will be punctuated with a performance by multi-talented and highly acclaimed Brooklyn artist, Fresh Daily.

Panelists who will both judge, and provide constructive commentary for the inaugural event, will include Birthplace Magazine founder and host of The NY Hip Hop Report, Manny Faces, Alvin Akinti, editor at 1200Squad.com and Joann Gomez of Music Looks Like This.

Special guest panelists will include Alex Damashek of Move Forward Music and Justin “The Company Man” Hunte, Editor-in-Chief of HipHopDX.com.

Kicking off the showcase series on February 5 will be performances by Raze (Washington Heights), Al Boges (Kingston, NY) and Ciph Boogie (Brooklyn).

Already making a name for himself by performing throughout the region, Raze, who has opened up for hip hop heavyweights such as Joell Ortiz, aims to excite the crowd, and appeal to both genders with an entertaining and thoughtful style.

Hailing from Kingston, NY, Al Boges brings a slow-flow, wordplay-driven, boom-bap friendly style, as evidenced by his 2013 mixtape release The Golden Silence, part of his #FloodTheValley campaign, making a lot of noise up North.

Ciph Boogie, out of Brooklyn, has been busy as well. The MC, who outlasted all competition in EPSN’s “Main Event” competition in 2012 to earn a featured placement on the sports network, is still riding the buzz of his latest release Sometime In New York City Vol 1.

The Blueprint: NY’s Premier Emerging Hip Hop Showcase takes place Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at The Studio at Webster Hall. Advance tickets can be purchased by clicking here.
