After dropping “Thank You,” a seemingly out-of-the-blue duet between long time hip hop compatriots Busta Rhymes and Q-Tip, word came out that the two would be delivering a complete mixtape collaboration, The Abstract and The Dragon.
While reaction to “Thank You” was mixed, most felt it displayed great potential for what these two titans could bring to the table.
Well, now the wait is over, as The Abstract and The Dragon has become available. With 28 tracks, there is a mix of original music, skits, brief commentary and remixes, including an exclusive track from Busta Rhymes’ upcoming ELE2 album.
Among some of the treats hidden in the depths, appearances by Raekwon, Talib Kweli, Redman and Big Daddy Kane, remixes by DJ Scratch and a couple of classic collaborations from the past that have featured Busta and Tip.
While Busta Rhymes has hinted at the follow up to his 1998 album Extinction Level Event: The Final World Front, Q-Tip can be found in Brooklyn every Wednesday for Offline, his weekly DJ residency at Output.
The entire mixtape is a free offering, and can be streamed or downloaded at LiveMixtapes.com.
