In response to comments made during a recent episode of The Combat Jack Show podcast which featured Hot 97 Program Director Ebro Darden, Buckshot and other affiliates of heralded New York-based hip hop label Duck Down Music came to the show, with Buckshot breaking down criticisms against the city’s most prominent hip hop radio figure.
With industry-specific examples, and a long, storied career experience to draw upon, Buckshot backed up the sentiment echoed by many, that people like Ebro in general, and Ebro specifically, are a cause, not a solution, to hip hop radio and in particular, how New York-styled hip hop has been largely whitewashed from the radio.
The opinions expressed by Buckshot certainly mirror many of the comments made during our own discussions of the topic on The NY Hip Hop Report, and were much better articulated than some of the more vague criticisms spewed by others who attempt to address the complicated issue.

Aside from the New York hip hop radio talk, the crew spoke about Duck Down’s history in the game, nearly signing Eminem and other anecdote from one of hip hop’s most revered labels.
