Roc Marciano – The Pimpire Strikes Back (Mixtape)

Roc Marciano - The Pimpire Strikes Back

Two things. One, I just wrote an editorial stating how album reviews don’t mean shit. Two, I just got into an interesting Twitter debate with Rob Markman of MTV about how everyone seems to still think New York hip hop isn’t worthy of major media props.

Roc Marciano is the perfect two-birds-with-one-stone I need right now.

Roc Marciano - The Pimpire Strikes BackOne, if you know the Strong Island representative’s repertoire (Marci Beaucoup, Reloaded), you should know that no album review is necessary when it comes to his latest project, The Pimpire Strikes Back. One can simply expect to hear great gritty gruffness over soulful selections and surely won’t be disappointed.

Two, this is why we’ve been the only rock-solid advocates of New York hip hop for the past 4+ years, when every major media outlet write us all off. Because we knew cats like Roc Marci wouldn’t let us down.

Couple features (Action Bronson, Meyhem Lauren, Cormega, Willy The Kid, Knowledge The Pirate) and solid production (Roc Marciano, Alchemist, Lord Finesse, Evidence, Madlib, Arch Druids) just add to the appeal.

Get into it below. I’m done for the night. *drops mic*
