Import/Export: International Hip Hop Showcase at CMJ

CMJ Music Marathon - Import Export International Hip Hop Showcase

The week-long CMJ Music Marathon, a yearly cavalcade of showcases, panels and music-related events taking place throughout New York City, will once again welcome an international contingency of hip hop talent, hailing from several corners of the globe, bringing big beats and multilingual lyrics to the Big Apple as part of the 6th annual Import/Export: The International Hip Hop Showcase.

Import/Export, produced by The Bloom Effect in conjunction with INDMUSIC, YouTube’s largest music network, will welcome performers from several continents. In the past, this has created a truly unique hip hop experience, as artists from varying regions, religions and perspectives, share in the universal method of expression that only hip hop music and culture provides.

This year, performers will include Ikes (UK), RudeBeats (Netherlands), Chief (Switzerland), Devon Tracy (Canada), MC Melodee x Cookin Soul (Netherlands/Spain) and Krussia (Russia). Holding it down for the home team, soulful songstress Adrienne Mack-Davis, representing the United States.

Hosting the show, another hometown favorite, singer/songwriter Maya Azucena, who has herself been on a globetrotting tour promoting her musical endeavors.

As we witnessed on our own excursion to L’Original Festival, the yearly hip hop extravaganza held in Lyon, France, there is immense appeal in witnessing international hip hop flavor, and the Import/Export showcase consistently delivers a memorable mix of eclectic and enjoyable hip hop entertainment.

Import/Export: International Hip Hop Showcase will take place on October 17, at DROM, located at 85 Ave. A in Manhattan. Admission for the first 100 CMJ badgeholders is free, all others, $10. Doors will open at 9:00 p.m. with showtime scheduled for 9:15 p.m.
