Acclaimed 10-piece collective, PitchBlak Brass Band, celebrates the release of their debut album, You See Us with what will undoubtedly be a musically lively performance at Bowery Electric, on Thursday, September 12.
The band caught the attention of many with their self-titled EP, which delivered a stylish mix of traditional brass band sounds coupled with hip hop vibes, both old-school and new. This continues, as displayed nicely in their recent video for “Doppelgänger,” an energetic and artistic visual exercise matching the strong-but-smooth jazzy musical vibe that lays a solid foundation underneath the band’s lyrically-inclined MCs.
It’s pretty much what one might expect a hip hop brass band to sound like, which, we might add, is a concept that honestly can go pretty well, or pretty bad.
They go pretty well.

In addition, most bands, (we assume hip hop brass ones included), tend to turn it up several notches when performing live, so we are eager with anticipation to check out what Chanell Crichlow (Sousaphone), Alison Shearer (Saxophone), Bryan Walters (Trumpet/MC), Brian Lotze (Trumpet/MC), T.J. Robinson (Trombone/MC), Alaina Alster (Trombone), Max Sholl (Trombone), Ben Brody (Guitar/Horn), Chris Johnson (Percussion/MC) and Ashley Baier (Drums) have in store for their album release event.
You See Me drops Tuesday, September 10. Tickets to the album release party can be purchased by clicking here.
