Uncle Murda recruits Vado and an unlikely-but-surprisingly-satisfactory Waka Flocka to represent New York City’s hip hop lifeblood.
While we roll our eyes a bit whenever anyone, even one of our own, say things like “Let’s get back on our shit” as if we haven’t BEEN on our shit, Uncle Murda brings up a few good points in his typical brash, blunt style.
The Peter Dmitriyev-directed video is pure ’90s boom bap street throwback.
For those who do a double-take seeing Waka on the joint, Mr. Flame does have NY roots, and as he demonstrates, perhaps some of his style and rap demeanor is him “playing to the room,” as he goes in with a more definitive NY flow, in contrast with his typical slow flow.
Vado does typical Vado, which is just fine, and while Murda really owns the track, overall, we dig the tribute and chalk it up as a part of the overall renaissance we’ve been preaching/advocating/predicting for years.
(Also, we’re calling it “New York City” because the YouTube title says it, even though the graphic in the video says “New York,” which could be the actual title. We’re only saying this because most sites probably didn’t even give it any thought, and we wanted you to know we’re better than most sites.)
