Released as a result of the #mylaugh Twitter chronicles, “Dead Presidents 3” was one of the many tidbits of Shawn Carter that were released over the ether (no pun intended), as the social media platform erupted with the news that Jay-Z had decided to emerge from Twitter hermit-dom and engage his 2.6 million-plus Twitter followers.
From nothing (Jay-Z had tweeted only sparingly in the past) to full on Stan-engagement, Jay-Z spend much of the afternoon bantering with users, friend and foe alike, responding to questions and comments, often with a retweet and a witty comment appended to the end.
A hashtag was born, as Jay-Z started ending many of his tweets with #mylaugh, in reference to his signature chortle.
When asked about “DeadPresidents 3” track, Jay-Z offered up production cohorts Young Guru or Just Blaze to release the track from the vaults. Young Guru complied.
The previously unreleased song rides a mellowed out, Young Guru-produced interpolation of Jay-Z’s original “Dead Presidents” and “Dead Presidents II” song, the latter of which appeared on his album Reasonable Doubt.
Despite the obvious enjoyment that Jay-Z seemed to have with his twitter interaction, it is unclear whether the Roc Nation mogul will continue using the social media platform, or simply write this off as a one-time experience.
We’ll be #waiting.
