Kev of Royal Kulture – ‘Up & Up’ (Video)

A lot of rappers rap about rap and other rappers. Some come off as bitter, lamenting the state of the music when in fact they are really lamenting the fact that they aren’t a part of it. Queens native Kev of Royal Kulture (a “collective”), approaches the issue in a bit of the same way, but manages to speak thoughtfully and skillfully enough about the topic so as to not come off as simply jaded.

Since we are constantly hearing folks who are looking for artists who are “saying something,” and since many hip hop heads harbor similar opinions on today’s rap game, Kev’s approach falls under that “refreshing” category that they might find interest in, without sounding preachy or falling victim to lackluster production.
