Brooklyn’s buzzing Badass drops “95 til Infinity,” the latest to peek out from his upcoming Summer Knights, a project that was pushed back days before its previously scheduled release only to be turned from EP to full-length, free digital LP.
“95 til Infinity” is a smooth track with expected tight lines, but a slightly different Joey Badass, who delivers a bit more aggressively, half barking his lines, as opposed to his typical laid-back flow, as if Joey needed, at least once, to increase his vocalization to more closely match his growing reputation and anticipation for his project.
Joey Badass remains one of a handful of young New York rap upstarts who have taken a liking to pre-Trap-Era beats, lyrics and flows, adopting a more Golden Era sound, and comparisons. Baddass’ 1999 mixtape won him critical acclaim, placing him among industry favorites to excel this year.
Summer Knights should be out on July 1.
