For a week-long engagement, uptown cultural arts space MIST Harlem will host screenings of DEMOS: An Independent Artist’s Guide To Success, a documentary intended to educate and inspire independent hip hop artists.
UPDATE: The original run dates of May 31 – June 6 have been postponed. The film will screen at MIST Harlem from June 21 to June 27. A one on one interview with Nitty Scott, MC, who appears in the film, will follow the final screening. Visit www.myimagestudios.com for more information and to purchase tickets.
DEMOS was previously screened at a launch event, also at MIST Harlem, and has gone on to be viewed at venues across the country. After the return to New York, DEMOS will continue to make the film-world rounds, as part of the New York City International Film Festival, and in cities like Miami, Boston and New Orleans.
DEMOS pays particular attention to the career journey of Brooklyn’s Skyzoo, and features interviews and appearances by a wide range of hip hop artists, producers and personalities, including Talib Kweli, Black Thought, Jean Grae, Torae, No I.D., Nitty Scott MC, and more.
