Lots of submissions come across our e-desk, including this latest from Hayze, reppin’ New London, Connecticut. Since we like to post up stuff from artists we haven’t covered before, and since we like to give CT a little shine here and there, we took a minute to check to see if “Life Is Hell,” which features Connecticut veteran Apathy (Demigodz, Army of the Pharaohs), was worthy of killing two birds with one post.
It was.
Boom bap drums, jazzy smooth loop, piercing horns, energetic chorus, thumping bass throughout with solid flows and sharp lyrics… Those heavenly characteristics make “Life is Hell” worth passing along for sure.
“Life Is Hell” introduced us to Hayze and based on this demonstration, we’ll be eagerly awaiting his upcoming mixtape The Smoker’s Section, due out on March 7. Hayze is down with Man Bites Dog Records, home of other premier wordsmiths and producers like Roc Marciano, Vast Aire and Harry Fraud.
