Action Bronson and Harry Fraud might be about to start a rampage. “Strictly 4 My Jeeps” is a typically rambunctious Bronson affair, both audibly and lyrically, over a slightly grimified version of the classic “Tramp” sample popularized by EPMD and LL Cool J on “Rampage.”
Action Bronson, one of several standouts in the current crop of middleground New York spitters comes with his trademark mix of humor, street talk and cockiness while Harry Fraud, one of the top-producers-of-the-moment, continues his streak of supplying solid sonic backing to buzzing artists.
The slightly-tweaked sampling isn’t groundbreaking, but definitely keeps in line with what is becoming the current New York underground sound, a modernized boom bap, beats with clear old school DNA, but don’t sound dated.
With “Strictly 4 My Jeeps,” Fraud adds to his range, as he has become just as known for more “southern”-styled tracks. It’s this varied repertoire that is increasing his stock as a go-to producer for the up and coming set, particularly those from the New York area.
“Strictly 4 My Jeeps” is potentially the first release from an Action Bronson-Harry Fraud mixtape project in the works (Saab Story.) Action Bronson has often collaborated and delivered mixtapes utilizing a sole producer, with good results, and with both artist and producer in a good place musically these days, we expect such a project will raise the bar and garner much attention for all involved.
