Big game or something coming up. Notre Dame, Alabama… Balls. Fight, fight, fight! Etc. Should be a good one. Notre Dame hasn’t won in a while but has an iconic history, Alabama’s been the team to beat. Almost as iconic is the fight song of The Fightin’ Irish, which got a bit of a modernization, thanks to Mick Boogie and Don Will of Tanya Morgan, in conjunction with Complex and Adidas. The Notre Dame Fight Song remix, takes the famous fight song and flips it, throws a beat behind it and gives it the hip hop treatment.
The BCS Championship game between Notre Dame and Alabama will take place on Monday, January 7. My deep analysis (checking the first 2 links that come up when I Google it) suggests that Notre Dame will prevail. Something about coaches or Golson or Mike Jordan’s Special Sauce or something or other. I don’t care much, but after spending a quarter surrounded by Aggie fans in an NYC bar during Texas A&M’s rout of whoever they were playing, I can tell that a lot of people do.
Hopefully, they don’t view the rappity-rapization of their fabled fight song as sacrilege. Even if they do, they probably won’t admit it, because of the unflinching support for anything Notre Dame by Notre Damians.
The Notre Dame Fight Song Remix will be part of a Complex Magazine’s Sports Division-helmed mixtape titled, ALL IN: NOTRE DAME.
So Monday, cheer for ol’ Notre Dame, bump this, say a few rah, rah, rahs, and maybe even march onward to victory.
