Harlem’s King of the Buzz A$AP Rocky drops the video for “Long Live A$AP,” from his long-awaited, and recently leaked, album on the same name, officially dropping in January, 2013. The effects and oddities-heavy video will likely impress as many as it confuses.
Varied imagery abounds, including knights in shining armor, a magic mirror/platter, black and white images of black and white women, other women as dueling martial artists, rose petals, skulls, lightning, gold teeth, and much more, all hodge-podged together in a video that is either very deep, or frantically structured for the shock/confusion factor.
Too early to tell.
What isn’t so hard to predict is that the release of what many call on of the less impressive tracks from his upcoming album may not win over many new listeners, but will surely not scare off any already mobbing for A$AP Rocky.
We called A$AP Rocky one of New York’s hip hop names to know for 2012, and though polarizing for his distinctively non-New York sound and style, A$AP Rocky and the rest of the A$AP compatriots have proven our prediction somewhat true, as his improbable initial buzz hasn’t died down, and word on the e-street is that the recently leaked album does indeed contain a few gems.
Whether or not it lives up to the hype remains to be seen.
