Jesse Abraham Interview on The NY Hip Hop Report

For the interview segment on the inaugural episode of The NY Hip Hop Report with Manny Faces on BlogTalkRadio, we wanted to highlight a New York artist that to us, is partaking in activities that are important to the next evolution of New York hip hop. Not necessarily the most well-known or even the most game-changing, but someone who does something different, has a bit of a following and is happy in their own lane. An artist who knows how to work the indie-musician game, where one has to function not only the talent, but consider marketing and image, finding unique ways to obtain exposure among a highly saturated underground, and a largely ambivalent middle-ground.

Most important, we wanted to spotlight someone who does what they do with a clear love and respect for the artform, and for their craft. Jesse Abraham has a distinctive voice, an evolving musical vibe and entertaining stage presence. His work ethic and tactics over the course of several years and a few full-length projects, demonstrate many of the traits that we feel are important for up-and-coming MCs that are swirling around in the New York rap underground, to master.

As he prepares the release of his next album, I Am Water, Jesse Abraham has dropped “Back Off,” a KO-Beatz produced gem that gets personal, a bit aggressive, and as always with a Jesse Abraham track, is filled with clear diction, clever lines and a unique delivery. Jesse Abraham is not for everybody, but seeing him rock plenty of times around New York and elsewhere, and having witnessed his new project’s charity tie-in begin to stack funds, we know there is an audience for Jesse’s work.

Swing over to www.mycharitywater.org/JAisWater to contribute to his charity campaign, and receive his music in return, as well as good karma.

For these reasons and more, Jesse Abraham was our inaugural interview guest. We spoke last week about what he’s got going on. Take a listen:
