The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival enters its eighth year, after a week-long lineup of events in 2011 culminated in a star-studded main day event, headlined by Q-Tip and featuring the likes of Kanye West and a show-stopping performance by Busta Rhymes. This year, Brooklyn Bodega, organizers of the massive festival, have announced that Busta Rhymes will return as this year’s headliner for the main day performance, the conclusion of another week-long set of hip hop-related events taking place July 9-14, 2012.
Brooklyn Bodega President and Executive Director Wes Jackson, citing Busta Rhymes’ long-career and almost unparelleled ability to continue self-reinvention, says, “People have been asking how we are going to top last year when Q-Tip brought out Kanye. I think we figured it out.”

As with Q-Tip in 2011’s festival, Busta Rhymes will work with Jackson and the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival staff to help curate additional artists for the main performances, as well as other events during the course of the festival, including yearly highlights such as the Salute the DJ event, the Brooklyn Education Initiative and the Dummy Clap Film Festival, all of which expect to be well attended and well-received.
Tickets for the 2012 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival are available to the public at the festival’s EventBrite page.
