Brooklyn Bodega Show & Prove Showcase – 4/12/12 at Public Assembly

Brooklyn Bodega Show & Prove

The buildup for the annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival has officially begun, as the first preliminary showcase in the Show & Prove series is set to jump off Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Public Assembly. The three-part showcase series pares down several competitors, setting up a Show & Prove finale later in the year, the winner of which goes on to receive stage time at the Festival.

2011’s series, organized by Brooklyn Bodega, showcased an eclectic and talented mix of performers, with Brooklyn’s L.A. taking the grand prize, subsequently rocking on the main stage at the 2011 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival.

This year, the competition begins with four acts vying for the first slot: Jus, Kounsel, Jimmy Age and Rasheed Chappell.

Doors open at 8 p.m., with showtime scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. Holding down hosting duties, Top $ Raz, with DJ Run P on the wheels throughout the night. Admission is $5.

For artists wishing to get on the remaining two preliminary events, submissions are being accepted at www.sonicbids.com/bkhiphopfest.
