Jay-Z will headline the “AMEX Sync Show” at this year’s SXSW (South By Southwest) music festival in Austin, Texas, performing at Austin City Limits on March 12. The concert, presented by American Express, will be streamed live to the internet on the credit card company’s YouTube channel, and will also be available for rebroadcast for the remainder of the festival.
SXSW, the annual tech and music extravaganza begins Friday, March 9 and lasts until Sunday, March 18, 2012. What was once a small, technology-based conference has grown into one of the country’s largest tech and entertainment events, drawing tens of thousands into the Austin area every year.
Birthplace Magazine covered the 2011 SXSW festival, witnessing how some of our NY-area hometown heroes held it down in the Lone Star State. At last year’s SXSW, Jay-Z made a surprise appearance during Kanye West’s heavily anticipated and attended G.O.O.D. Music showcase.
Jay-Z’s concert will be broadcast on March 12, 2012 beginning at 7 p.m. CST at www.youtube.com/americanexpress. American Express cardholders will be able to tweet during the event, using special hashtags which will give them access to special offers and discounts, all part of American Express’ efforts to expand their social media reach.
