The Back To The Eighties weekly show at Canal Room celebrates its three year anniversary Friday, March 23, with a plethora of flashback faves from everyone’s favorite neon-colored decade.
A mix of pop and rap will fill the venue, as Tiffany (“I Think We’re Alone Now”) will share the same stage as Rob Base (“It Takes Two”), and Flock of Seagulls (“I Ran [So Far Away]”) will appear, as well as J.J. Fad (“Supersonic”). Add the acclaimed 80s cover band Rubix Kube, and the night is likely to transport audience members back to the good ol’ days as effectively as Doc Brown’s DeLorean.
Oh, and there’s going to be a surprise special guest. Judging by past surprise guests like MC Hammer, whoever it is should absolutely add to the fun. Naughty By Nature has been revealed as the surprise guest, and will undoubtedly bring an added dose of high energy to the occasion.
So, as much as there are folks who advocate for the return of a touch of good 90s hip hop and plenty to satisfy folks longing for the fun-loving, synthesizer heavy, Breakfast Club fashion-filled days of the Reagan years. For you, the Back To The Eighties series is right up your (Kirsten) alley.
Grab tickets before they get gobbled up like Pac-Man pellets, (advance tickets are a bit cheaper), grab your pleather jacket, and head out to Canal Room on Friday.
