KRS-One – Just Like That

Several Golden Era hip hop artists have managed to stick around the game, despite the drastic changes in the taste of young fan and corporate industry bastardization. Some have ventured into other areas of entertainment, TV, movies and the like, and some do well touring the nostalgia circuit. With help from projects like his 2009 acclaimed collaboration with Buckshot, KRS-One is one of the few who continues to create new music, never veering far from his original style, but never sounding completely removed from the modern day world either. In “Just Like That,” KRS-One does his best KRS-One, a mix of a head-nod hip hop history lesson, a bit of boom-bap bragging and a little philosophic schooling session. With an effect-heavy video crafted by Charles Armstrong of Paradox Films and directed by Mad Lion, who produced the track, KRS-One continues to ‘reduce, create innovate on a higher level.’ He’ll be back, (with his 20th studio album in early 2012), but for now, just watch.
