FinaL OutlaW – Invado [EP] + Diaspora [VIDEO]

OK, if you haven’t heard of/from the fiery New York rapper named FinaL OutlaW in the past, than Invado, the self-described “collection of revamps and rarities” should serve to open your eyes to the MC we’ve long ago dubbed one of our “5 Reasons Why New York Hip Hop Doesn’t Suck.” This impassioned orator can speak on hip hop, narrate street life, inflict braggadocio rap damage and advocate for social issues, each as effectively as any young vocalist we’ve come across.

FinaL OutlaW - Invado - Mixtape cover artInvado helps organize all of these musical and verbal characteristics in one package, as FinaL OutlaW continues to work toward an anticipated project consisting of all new material. Make no mistake, even from the second line of the mixtape’s leadoff “The Memo,” FinaL OutlaW warns, “Wait til you hear my album, this mixtape was nothing but a hiccup,” and we suspect listeners will be as eager as we are to keep adding to our FinaL OutlaW collection.

On Invado, FinaL OutlaW occasionally takes an interesting tact, jumping on tracks by “established” artists, crafting unofficial remixes with the likes of Eminem, J. Cole, Tyler The Creator, even Nicki Minaj. Despite the surface dichotomy of having such an underground-vibed artist rocking over mainstream tracks, this usually works, in a couple cases where FinaL OutlaW fits perfectly or outshines the original artist(s). For those who would rather hear the uncut FinaL OutlaW raw, Invado has tracks such as “Up and Comer,” and “You Will Betray Me,” to satisfy that

FinaL OutlaW has been spending time among the Occupy Wall Street protests, sharing some of what he has come across via his YouTube channel, and as one hardly afraid to speak what he feels, we’ll expect to be hearing sonic documentation about his efforts in the near future. In the meantime, Invado has invaded our playlist and will surely occupy the iPod for some time to come.
