Manny Faces, BirthplaceMag.com Founder: Radio Interview on WBAI-NY’s ‘The Show’

A couple of weeks ago, I was a guest on “The Show,” a radio program on New York’s WBAI 99.5 FM, hosted by Ife Dancy (of Hip Hop Takeover fame) and The Mighty G-Man (who also is a regular fixture on the legendary New York radio program The Underground Railroad, hosted by Jay Smooth and also on WBAI, Friday nights from 10 p.m. until midnight).

The Show is a bi-weekly program, airing in the wee hours of Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, 3 a.m. to 5 a.m., and covers multiple genres of music, primarily hip hop and R&B, and often welcomes guests on as well. This week, I was the guest, and spoke with Ife and G-Man about several topics, including my favorite MCs, the police vs. hip hop, Birthplace Magazine, my personal life and New York hip hop in general.

For those interested, the full 2-hour segment can be listened to below, inculding the first hour which was mainly a DJ set by the lovely and talented DJ Leecy T (one half of the M-Tri/DJ Leecy T duo whose “Grease” video was just featured on our September edition of “10 Must See Videos by New York Area Hip Hop Artists“).

Here is also a clip of an interview portion of the show, where I speak on bringing my kids up around music, my hip hop history, working on BirthplaceMag.com and where I feel New York hip hop was, is and will be.
