Brand Nubian, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Nice & Smooth at Canal Room – Thursday, October 27

Now that CMJ is over, and you’ve hopefully discovered some good new music, Canal Room is giving you a great opportunity to witness timeless hip hop, delivered by three of rap’s most dynamic groups, Brand Nubian, Pete Rock & CL Smooth and Nice & Smooth. It all goes down Thursday, October 27 and Birthplace Magazine not only has the info for you, but a chance to win a pair of tickets as well!

While there are occasional sightings of each of these fabled groups, it is extremely rare to have such influential and prolific groups in one plce at one time. Among the night’s trifecta of terrific Golden Era hip hop, Greg Nice and Smooth B, the incomparable due known as Nice & Smooth. These two showmen should have no problem making it “Funky 4 You” while delivering “More and More Hits” from their catalog of classics.

Another legendary hip hop group who created and mastered their own lane of soulful hip hop with conscious lyrics and smooth delivery, Pete Rock & CL Smooth have also only recently recombined their musical forces, having spent several years after their peak going their own separate ways. The dynamic duo, best known for the truly classic “They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.),” will hit the stage at Canal Room for a rare and highly anticipated performance.

Brand Nubian, known for classic hip hop singles like “All For One,” “Slow Down” and “Punks Jump Up To Get Beat Down,” rarely appears with all four members at the same time, but Canal Room is making this happen, blessing the New York area with the chance to witness Grand Puba, Lord Jamar, Sadat X and DJ Alamo collectively rock the house.

With an additional DJ set by Pete Rock on tap, the night should easily satisfy old- and new-school hip hop heads alike.
