The ever-popular BET Hip-Hop Awards Cypher segments were in effect last night during the broadcast, with one of the more notable being the Shady 2.0 Cypher, featuring Eminem, Yelawolf, and the four members of Slaughterhouse, including Crooked I, Royce Da 5’9″, and two of Birthplace Magazine’s “5 Reasons Why New York Hip Hop Doesn’t Suck,” Joe Budden and Joell Ortiz.
Entertaining and full of punchlines that drew cheers and applause from the Hip-Hop Awards audience, each Shady crew member ripped their verse while DJ Premier cut up the beat.
And good Lord did Eminem rip it.
Other NY-area notables rolling through on the Cypher tip, Brooklyn’s Nitty Scott MC, Roosevelt, Long Island’s Reek Da Villain and an LOL-inducing Busta Rhymes. Other cypher sessions included Rick Ross and his Maybach Music affiliates, veterans such as Ludacris and Lady of Rage as well as newcomers like Big K.R.I.T., Machine Gun Kelly, Kendrick Lamar and 2 Chainz.
Also making Cypher appearances, Tyga, Kevin McCall and Ace Hood, alongside a rapping Chris Brown.
The BET Hip-Hop Awards premiered on BET Tuesday, October 10, but if you missed it, there will be several reruns of the show.
