Kalae ALL DAY drops “Stick Up Kids,” the first single from her upcoming project Pass Times and Crass Lines, featuring Baxter P. Wordsworth and Atlas’.
Kalae ALL DAY, named one of Birthplace Magazine’s “5 Reasons Why New York Hip Hop Doesn’t Suck,” has been catching the attention of not only fans, but the industry as well, receiving the 2010 “Rising Star” honor from the New York Music Awards, and she was featured in an Insipre U segment on MTV.
“Stick Up Kids” is an entertaining, tongue-in-cheek play on, shall we say, a more “stereotypical” hip hop lifestyle, and is effective in showcasing the skills of the lyricists, even as it pokes swaggy fun over a rolling, slightly ragtime-feeling track. A video for “Stick Up Kids” is forthcoming, and by the looks of the vintage shots from the set, should be equally entertaining.
Pass Times and Crass Lines is scheduled to drop September 10. Kalae ALL DAY’s current project, a collaborative album with Sciryl Cooper titled The Sun, The Moon & The Stars, is available on iTunes.
Kalae ALL DAY is performing at the Black August event on Thursday, August 25 at S.O.B.s.
As always, we implore to to pay attention to Kalae ALL DAY. She is going to be a “we told you so.”
