Busta Rhymes teams up with DMX as the two gruff-voiced MCs are the latest to jump aboard the “Otis” bandwagon. The Kanye West / Jay-Z (aka The Throne) track from their forthcoming collaborative album Watch The Throne, has already been reinterpreted by the likes of Papoose, Styles P and Jadakiss, Heltah Skeltah, as well as a slew of upcoming artists.
Word spread as Busta Rhymes excitedly previewed the track via a YouTube video, and hyped the impending release, scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 4 exclusively on Funkmaster Flex’s Hot 97 radio show. The preview only gave a taste, as DMX was heard barking a few introductory words over the songs prelude. Busta Rhymes, who we last saw rocking the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival alongside Q-Tip, apparently orchestrated DMX’s appearance, making this (we think) the first recording to come from the troubled rap veteran since his release from prison in Arizona.
The highly anticipated Watch The Throne will be released on August 8, to be followed up with a multi-city tour. Despite recent rumors that the two rap titans were at odds over the tour details, a listening event in New York City went on without a hitch, and the album continues to build hype as the days until its release dwindle.
Tune in to Funkmaster Flex’s show on Hot 97 (97.1 – NY) or online at www.hot97.com to hear the song in its entireity. We’ll also post/embed it here when it becomes available.
UPDATE: And here it is.
