Busta Rhymes and Q-Tip at the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival [VIDEO]

The 2011 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival closed out with a bang on Saturday, July 11, as headliner Q-Tip brought out several “friends” to the delight of the thousands in attendance underneath the Brooklyn Bridge. While the big surprise ended up being Kanye West, prior to his appearance, Q-Tip brought out “Scenario” cohort Busta Rhymes for a brief, but ferocious display of energetic verbal dexterity.

Q-Tip’s other “friends,” notably Monie Love, Black Thought and the aforementioned Kanye West, helped close out the Main Day performances with a mix of nostalgic and current music, capping off a day which saw several performances from other hip hop from the past and present, including Tip’s fellow A Tribe Called Quest member Ali Shaheed Muhammad, M.O.P., Random Axe, Kendrick Lamar, Homeboy Sandman, Eternia, Rah Diggah, Tiye Phoenix, Lords of the Underground and many more.

Busta helped bring the final hour to a frenzy with his animated recital of his classic “Scenario” verse, as well as his part of the Chris Brown song, “Look At Me Now,” leaving onlookers in awe of his live performance ability.

Birthplace Magazine was there throughout the Festival’s week-long run, and while we compile our coverage for an in-depth recap, check out the official video, released by Festival organizers Brooklyn Bodega, as it highlights one of hip hop’s more charismatic journeymen showing the crowd why he is still one of the best in the game.
