The 2011 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival continues tonight, July 14, with Salute The DJ, an event to include veteran hip hop icons in paying homage to the DJ, what many call the cornerstone of hip hop. Legendary producer and DJ Marley Marl will headline with a “Rap Attack Live” showcase, paying tribute to fallen comrade Mr. Magic, the iconic radio personality who passed away in 2009.
Rap Attack Live is expected to include performances and appearances by old school heavyweights like Keith Murray, Craig G, Roxanne Shante, Force MDs and Grandmaster Caz of the Cold Crush Brothers. Earlier in the night, turntablism will reign supreme as DJs like Roli Rho, Mista Sinista and DJ Getlive will be joined by Twilite Tone, Chairman Mao and the Dance Cat-alyst Troupe to keep the music and entertainment flowing all night.
According to Marley Marl, Masta Ace, Red Alert, Chuck Chillout and The Awesome Two are also expected to take part in the tribute.
Inventor of the scratch, Grand Wizzard Theodore will also be in the house.
Salute The DJ will be hosted by Torae, and goes down Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Tickets can be purchased here. Doors open at 9:00 p.m., and is a 21 and over event.
