Pete Rock, Smif-n-Wessun, Styles P, Sean Price – That’s Hard

Providing a taste of what’s to come from veteran producer Pete Rock and veteran group Smif-n-Wessun’s upcoming collaborative album Monumental, “That’s Hard” brings Styles P and Sean Price into an already monumental mix. The result is a gritty, strings+drum heavy headnodder that should whet appetites for their upcoming album, set for a June 28th release.

Pete Rock, Smif-n-Wessun, Styles P, Sean Price - That's Hard - Monumental albumDuck Down Records (previously named one of Birthplace Magazine’s 5 Reasons Why New York Hip Hop Doesn’t Suck“) continues to put together projects that combine a little of the old with a little of the new, eliciting a classic East Coast vibe without allowing the efforts to sound dated.

Monumental will be produced entirely by Pete Rock, with features by a potpourri of talent, including Raekwon, Bun B, Buckshot, Rock of Heltah Skeltah, Memphis Bleek and more.

Pete Rock has been slowly bubbling back into hip hop’s consciousness, currently also promoting a collaborative mixtape with flash-in-the-pan but highly revered group Camp Lo, 80 Blocks From Tiffany’s. (More on that project coming soon.)

P.S.: Shouts to Tek and Steele, who I’m pretty sure I helped out once by running all through Manhattan for them (in the rain no less), looking for The Great Adventures of Slick Rick on CD, when I was briefly interning at D&D Studios a bunch of years ago. Also where I met Guru. Good times.

Anyway, here’s That’s Hard.
