Joe Budden unleashes a new J.Cardim-produced track, “Implodes,” after making noise throughout the hip hop industry in recent days for a Canibus beef and an ongoing, sordid, tabloid-worthy attack by ex-girlfriend, model Esther Baxter, in which she publicly accused Budden of causing a miscarriage, killing their unborn child.
The whirlwind month found Joe Budden, previously named one of Birthplace Magazine’s “5 Reasons Why New York Hip Hop Doesn’t Suck,” released a diss track, airing out Baxter’s infideltity, after a flurry of back and forth tweets.
Since then, Esther Baxter spoke with gossip site Bossip.com, detailing her accounts of abuse at the hands of the Slaughterhouse MC, and providing the site with what she states is photographic evidence Budden laid hands on her.
Even more shockingly, Baxter reportedly provided graphic photos of the actual miscarriage, which the site subsequently removed.
We’ve previously stated love for Joe Budden’s introspective nature, keen lyrical skill, and ability to find a way to stay relevant among music fans, even without having an overly significant music career over the years. His behind-the-scenes drama (never kept much behind the scenes at all) have been at times online hip hop’s best reality show, but these allegations cross over into the disturbing.
Nevertheless, there are few MCs who find a way to weave their real-life situations into their music as effectively as Joe Budden, so it will be interesting to hear what gets released leading up to his Mood Muzik 4.5, due out on May 24. “Implodes” doesn’t get into the recent drama, but we’re pretty sure what comes next, will.
