Behind-the-scenes beef between veteran lyricist Canibus and at least two members of Shady Records’ “supergroup” Slaughterhouse spilled out into the open, with the release of a fiery lyrical assault by Canibus, entitled “Lyrical Law vs. Joey Cupcakes,” primarily aimed at Slaughterhouse members Joe Budden, with Royce Da 5’9″ in Canibus’ sights as well.
Apparently in response to e-provocation by Joe Budden (named one of Birthplace Magazine’s “5 Reasons Why New York Hip Hop Doesn’t Suck“) Canibus unleashes his trademark raspy, enhanced vocabulary flow toward the Jersey representative, calling Budden a disgrace to his state, the weakest in Slaughterhouse, and comparing Budden and Royce to “two moist buttwipes.”
Comedy.
Interestingly, Royce Da 5’9″ took to twitter to respond, as HipHopDX noted, with Royce addressing the issue with a snarky, “Dear Canibus.. ZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZzz.”
It remains to be seen if there will be a musical response to the verbal attack. In the meantime, fans of Canibus, or new jacks who may only now be aware of who he is, can expect the release of his upcoming collaborative album with Long Island’s Keith Murray, The Undergods, due out at the end of May.
