Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival Update: Show & Prove Preliminaries, Homeboy Sandman, Eternia, Others Added to Festival Lineup

As we previously reported, planning for the annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival is in full gear, with this year’s headlining act, and partial curator, Q-Tip bringing as-yet-unnamed “friends” to help him celebrate his long and revered career during the week-long event’s main stage finale on Saturday, July 16.

Brooklyn Bodega - Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival - Show & Prove competition preliminariesFurther, Brooklyn Bodega, organizers of the event, have released other developments, most notably the addition of a few artists we can guarantee will up the energy level during their performances. Homeboy Sandman, the inaugural recipient of Birthplace Magazine’s5 Reasons Why New York Hip Hop Doesn’t Suck” has been added, as well as Eternia, who we enjoyed watching put on quite a show in the past, Canadian up-and-comer Shad, and the young and very talented Nitty Scott. Also announced, acclaimed B-Boy Kid Glyde will be displaying his breakdance skills during the Festival’s “Family Day” event.

The Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival kicks off Monday, July 11 with the Show & Prove Super Bowl, a culmination of several preliminary competitions, which offers the grand prize of opening for Q-Tip himself. The second to last preliminary competition takes place on Thursday, May 19 at Public Assembly in Brooklyn. Fighting for the spot to compete in the finals are Scienze, Ellis, Chris Faust, P.So and G.R.A.M.Z. The event is hosted by The Company Man, of Brooklyn Bodega Radio and is presented in conjunction with the good folks at 2DopeBoyz.
