Just when you might think Nicki Minaj can’t climb much higher on the mainstream buzz ladder, the Jamaica Queens woman of the hip hop hour does just that, this time, reports say, signing on to join one time pop juggernaut Britney Spears on her upcoming “Femme Fatale” tour, set to kick off June 17, starting in Sacramento, California.
Nicki Minaj continues to add to her impressive resume with this addition, made possible by original tourmate Enrique Iglesias’ dropping out of the lineup. Minaj has been on tour with Lil’ Wayne, as part of his “I Am Music II” tour, which rolled into New York for an appearance at Long Island’s Nassau Coliseum in mid-March. Nicki Minaj will go from that tour almost immediately to the “Femme Fatale.”
Nicki Minaj is currently enjoying a mainstream press run, sharing one of several covers for Elle magazine’s “Women In Music” issue, while Britney Spears continues to work toward a comeback of sorts, after years removed from the music industry that included a failed marriage, children and custody issues and other personal drama. Her recently released seventh studio album, also titled Femme Fatale, has garnered decent reviews and debuted at the top of the Billboard 200, her sixth such feat.
