DJ Megatron Murder: Arrests In DJ Megatron Shooting Death

Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting death of DJ Megatron, real name Corey McGriff, the BET co-host and former on-air jock at New York’s Hot 97 radio station. DJ Megatron was shot and killed close to his Staten Island home in the early morning hours of March 28th by a single gunshot wound to the chest.


DJ Megatron Murder - Arrests Made in DJ Megatron ShootingAccording to several news sources including NY1, William Williams, 21, and Richard Cromwell, 20, were arrested and charged with second degree murder, robbery and criminal possession of a weapon. The motive appears to be robbery, with prosecutors describing the men as having “stalked the rising hip-hop star for a block before gunning him down during a robbery gone wrong.”

DJ Megatron was a frequent on-camera fixture on 106 and Park, often interacting with the audience. He was previously known in the tri-state area due to his club DJing and work on Hot 97. DJ Megatron was laid to rest after a ceremony at Staten Island’s International Christian Center on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, where family and friends gathered to say their final farewells.

DJ Megatron was 32 years old with three children.
