Pharoahe Monch, on the verge of releasing his highly anticipated album W.A.R. (We Are Renegades), drops an extended music video for “Clap (One Day).” In it, Pharoahe Monch hauntingly addresses police brutality in a riveting visual tale of a raid that takes a tragic turn for the worse.
Pharoahe Monch, perhaps best known for his classic “Simon Says,” has long been revered for his complex lyrical style, and his Duck Down Records release W.A.R. (We Are Renegades) is now available for pre-order on iTunes. Birthplace Magazine previously featured the Diamond D-produced “Shine,” featuring MeLa Machinko.
The extended video for “Clap (One Day)” is directed by Terence Nance, and features Gbenga Akinnagbe, formerly on the hit HBO series The Wire, Kim Howard and Josiah Small.
It’s a pretty powerful visual counterpart to the song, and helps fuel the already-buzzing excitement from die-hard hip hop fans for Pharoahe Monch’s return to the spotlight.
