The latest in a new series by Gasface entitled Where I’m From, features Wu-Tang Clan member Method Man, reminiscing on his childhood living on Long Island before settling on Staten Island. In the roughly five minute Where I’m From x Clifford Smith, Method Man recalls his move from Hempstead, to Brooklyn, back to Long Island then off to Shaolin. Meth tells a few anecdotes about the early pre-Wu-Tang days, recalling early freestyle sessions and battles with Raekwon, GZA, Cappadonna, RZA and Ol’ Dirty Bastard.
The Where I’m From series is brought to us by Mathieu Rochet and Nicolas Venancio of Media Gasface/ARTE.TV, who previously delivered the very cool NY Minute miniseries (we featured the installment detailing the creation of the original Big Pun mural in the Bronx, commemorating the MCs death).
Interesting to hear one of hip hop’s elite personalities calmly reminiscing about family moments in his past, and always cool to hear some early tales of the rise of the Wu.
