We’re undecided about Lil B. Simply haven’t paid too much attention, focused on the NY scene. Though, when Lil B rolled into the Big Apple, it was quite a spectacle. For now, a collaboration with Tony Yayo did catch our attention, and we’re a little bit mesmerized by the Frank Dukes track and accompanying video.
The song “Based” is set to appear on Tony Yayo’s upcoming mixtape GPG3 mixtape, and featured the “Based God” and Yayo waxing poetic regarding incidents and social affairs, more speaking than rapping. The video intersperses clips from various world events and internet memes throughout.
Not totally sure what we think of it, or Lil B. He seems to be a divisive factor, causing polarized discussion much like the recent explosion of interest revolving around Odd Future, either one loves or hates, with seldom a middle ground to be found. While we stay focused on our beloved NY-area, the overall hip hop fan in us will be spending time trying to decide whether these two recent phenomenons align with our personal tastes.
In the meantime, maybe you’ll enjoy the collaborative visual below:
