Funkmaster Flex Arrested After Alleged Domestic Violence Incident

Funkmaster Flex arrestedNew York hip hop radio mainstay Funkmaster Flex was arrested today (Feb. 4), after a Westchester woman accused the Hot 97 personality of pushing her, breaking her phone and leaving harrassing messages.

TMZ broke the story, saying that Funkmaster Flex, real name Aston Taylor Jr., was arrested and arraigned after having left the scene of the alleged incident, and has since been released on $500 bail at Greenburgh Town Court. The site says that Flex received a restraining order, and will appear at a hearing later this month.

This isn’t the first time Flex has faced similar charges. In 2002, the DJ was charged with 3rd degree assault after choking and striking radio personality Steph Lova, then an on-air personality for rival Power 105. That case was settled in 2003 with Flex pleading to a lesser charge of harassment.

The incident follows another recent high-profile hip hop arrest involving a NY hip hop entity, Juelz Santana, who was arrested and released on $125,000 bail after being charged with drug and weapons charges following a raid on his NJ recording studio.

We will update as more becomes known.
