Talib Kweli’s latest LP Gutter Rainbows is now available, and if the promo material that has been sprinkling through the atmosphere recently are any sign, this will be as pleasurable a hip hop listening experience as was Revolutions Per Minute, Kweli’s critically acclaimed 2010 project under the Reflection Eternal brand, with producer Hi Tek.
The first single, “Cold Rain,” was released back in December 2010, and now, the visual counterpart has emerged. Directed by Joslyn Rose Lyons and Roy Miles Jr., the Black Ops influenced, apocalyptic scenery provides a thoughtful backdrop for Kweli’s lyrics, delivered in the part-brag, part-soulful-lecture, style that he has mastered over the years.
Sealing the nail in the must-have coffin, was the drop we posted the other day, the “gloriously gritty” duet with Jean Grae, “Uh Oh,” which helped remind you all exactly why we named Ms. Grae one of our “5 Reasons Why New York Hip Hop Doesn’t Suck.”
Talib Kweli’s Gutter Rainbows is available through iTunes, Amazon, and where fine hip hop music can be found.
