Yay, discovery! Putting together a site like BirthplaceMag.com, we stumble across a vast amount of music. Much of it bad. Some of it good. A teensy bit of it great. And among all of those classifications, there will be a lot that is, well, a bit different.
Occasionally, when “different” meets “bad,” it can make us want to stab ourselves in the eardrums and fold up the entire publication, to spend the rest of our days quietly whimpering, curled in a fetal position wearing headphones that are plugged into a pineapple.
But, when “different” meets “good” or even “great,” we get really happy.
JonnyGo Figure is someone we have never heard of, probably only because we haven’t heard of everyone yet. He is from Brooklyn (Couldn’t you tell from the way he look, mang?). His video for “Brooklyn Bloke,” directed by Joseph Rivera/Sharp Edge Productions, is a perfectly complimentary visual to the infectiously giddy, self-produced vibe of the song, which has instantly become our favorite song of today, looped on repeat since beginning this entry. Different, but fun, just a well-produced, enjoyable song.
That being said, no idea yet whether this is a fluke, or whether this cat has a lot more of this great type of eclectic-minded creativity up his musical sleeve, so we will be certainly checking out his latest EP Awkward Spelling, to find out more.
Based on this one example, this Brooklyn bloke just might be on to something.
Go figure.
