Yay Redman! After just dropping Pancake & Syrup, a 17-track mixtape to support the impending release of his album Reggie, Mr. Noble drops “Def Jammable,” a very welcoming return to the spotlight for the New Jersey representative. Track, lyrics and visual counterpart are all very Def Jammable.
With the video for “Def Jammable,” Redman reminds us how his blend of humor and gritty rhymes won over fans many years ago. While Redman has put out quality projects in recent years, most notably the Blackout! 2 album with frequent collaborator Method Man, it’s good to see him stand alone with a track that could definitely grab the attention of even today’s stubbornly anti-old school rap audience.
Not yet sure who produced the track or who directed the video, but as in many of Redman’s classic songs and videos, the bassline heavy track, (punctuated with slightly eerie squeals throughout), sing-song hook, tough lyrical content and special effects riddled video treatment, present a flurry of hip hop goodness that really come together well.
Reggie drops December 7.
